A Thanksgiving Hiccup

2011 brings a first for lots of things here in the Hatfield Household. Just in the past 2 weeks, we’ve been blessed with a new addition to our family, Roman Jude. With Roman’s birthday so close to Thanksgiving, putting him at only a week and a half old, this year we’ll be spending our Holiday, not fighting traffic or spending hours driving in a car or racing to make an appearance at 10 different houses, but rather cooped up inside our cozy home together. Those who know me the best knows I LOVE holidays and traveling and visiting with family, so this “hiccup” on a traditional day is quite an adjustment for me.

This morning when I woke up, I thought about all the people I’ll miss out on seeing today and all the yummy food I could be devouring… but then I quickly reminded myself, I get to enjoy the entire day with the three most important boys in my life. I get them all to myself. I don’t have to share them or give my attention to anyone else, but them. Today will be a great day. I’m thankful, deeply thankful for these three boys in my life. This little “hiccup” on a traditional day turns out only to be a great blessing for me.

Maybe later, I’ll convince the oldest of the three to drag out all the Christmas Stuff up from the basement and help me prepare our home for the month of December and all it has to bring:)

Happy Thanksgiving Friends.

Today, be safe, be blessed, and be thankful.
