“Post this at all the intersections, dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear.” James 1:19 (MSG)

What a powerful sentence. Many times I find myself lashing out or speaking from anger at the drop of a dime before I can even comprehend or think about why I’m upset. Have you ever found yourself doing that? I know I’m guilty of it.

I am a very emotionally driven person. I have a huge heart for others. At the same time, I take things extremely personal, and sometimes let my emotions get the very best of me {Thank God for sending me a spouse with an immense amount of patience and sensibility}… the Big Man Upstairs knows my weaknesses and downfalls. I truly believe that is why I married the man I did. He makes me a better person, without a doubt.

I can think of a handful of things I can be angry about, but instead, I’m focusing on the tenfold of things I can rejoice about. Today, I’m putting full emotion behind this prayer and letting the anger “straggle along in the rear“. Goodbye Anger, Hello Blessings.

Dear Lord, some days my emotions seem to steam roll me. Please help me reconnect with You and know that many times being sad or mad over stuff is a complete waste of my time. I’d rather focus on You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
